Senior Back End Engineer – Integrations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• Work collaboratively with engineers, product designers, and the product team to conduct experiments and test innovative ideas.

• Create efficient, design-focused, reusable, and user-friendly interfaces that address complex requirements.

• Enhance user-defined data modeling and performance through the use of reusable components such as models, variables, and formulas.

• Assume operational responsibility for the components you develop.

• Engage in challenging tasks and projects while gaining new skills during designated hack time.

• Integrate customer feedback with product and operations teams to facilitate ongoing product improvement.

• Expand the complex data and calculations platform to accommodate growing client volume, size, and complexity.

• Navigate through various programming languages and ecosystems to read, modify, and extend integration-specific code.

• Spearhead the design and development of Abacum's integrations platform for the ingestion, normalization, and annotation of business data.

• Create and scale bidirectional integrations with billing, accounting, ERP, commerce, and HRIS systems.

• Design low-code/no-code tools and determine integration strategies to expedite development and maintenance.

• Ensure that integrations are secure, robust, and efficient at scale for high-volume financial and transactional data.

• Convert complex workflows into user-friendly software experiences in collaboration with product, design, financial experts, and customers.

• Set technical standards and steer the architecture for integrations and data-intensive systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience, with a minimum of 2 years in integration roles.

• Strong expertise in developing integrations for data-intensive use cases.

• In-depth hands-on experience with Python and contemporary backend systems.

• Experience in architecting or working with integration platforms, data platforms, or similar large-scale API ecosystems.

• A curious and persistent approach to resolving ambiguous, high-stakes technical challenges such as low-code builder design, LLM-assisted workflows, and data enhancement.

• Pragmatic decision-making: understanding when to deliver quickly versus when to invest in foundational architecture.

• Proficiency in working with various programming languages and ecosystems, including Python, Django, ERP scripting frameworks like SuiteScript, native app extensions, and third-party vendor SDKs.

• Familiarity with OAuth 2.0 / OIDC, SSO providers, SAML, service-to-service authentication, access and refresh tokens, JWT, API keys, TLS/HTTPS, signed requests, and secret management.
