Senior Azure Virtual Desktop Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, construct, and enhance secure Azure Virtual Desktop environments for Codex-driven development and virtual desktop modernization.

• Engineer AVD host pools, session hosts, images, scaling strategies, application delivery, and user profiles.

• Develop secure desktop patterns for Codex access, encompassing network segmentation, firewall regulations, browser controls, and developer-tool management.

• Implement and support FSLogix, Entra ID, Intune, profile storage, image lifecycle, and monitoring integrations.

• Plan and execute Citrix transition activities, performance validation, capacity planning, and user acceptance testing.

• Diagnose performance, sign-in, profile, application, network, and graphics issues throughout the AVD stack.

• Create deployment standards, operational runbooks, and facilitate technical knowledge transfer for ongoing support.

• Lead cross-team initiatives, perform advanced tuning, implement high availability/failover architectures, conduct audits, plan for growth, and manage budgets.

• Guide the engineering team, foster talent development, mediate conflicts, and communicate effectively with senior leadership and stakeholders.

• Provide strategic consulting to leadership, develop roadmaps, negotiate vendor agreements, and champion innovation initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in endpoint, virtual desktop, or Windows infrastructure engineering.

• Practical experience in AVD design and implementation with both pooled and personal desktop patterns.

• In-depth knowledge of FSLogix, Windows 11, Entra ID, Intune, Azure networking, and profile-storage architecture.

• Familiarity with image engineering, application packaging, performance optimization, and monitoring.

• Capability to work independently in a secure, highly regulated enterprise setting.

• Experience with Citrix migration (preferred).

• Knowledge of IGEL, thin-client, GPU-enabled desktop, or Azure NetApp Files (preferred).

• Azure Virtual Desktop Specialty certification (preferred).
