Senior Awards Officer

📋 Description

• Oversee 350.org’s global portfolio of restricted institutional grants from the award stage through implementation, reporting, and closure.

• Ensure compliance with grant requirements, deliverables, budgets, timelines, and responsibilities.

• Convert approved proposals, budgets, and grant agreements into clear internal directives.

• Collaborate with Program and Country teams to track progress against grant commitments.

• Identify risks related to implementation, finance, reporting, or compliance, address issues, and escalate significant concerns as necessary.

• Spearhead the preparation of high-quality narrative grant reports.

• Collect and synthesize feedback from relevant teams.

• Partner with the Global Finance Manager and the Finance team on financial reporting matters.

• Monitor spending against restricted grant budgets and highlight significant variances.

• Manage post-award modifications, including grant amendments, budget revisions, extensions, and changes to deliverables.

• Assist in the final development and review of complex restricted proposals, budgets, and grant agreements.

• Enhance and refine grants management processes, tools, templates, and systems.

• Maintain precise grant information in Salesforce and other pertinent platforms.

• Capture and summarize achievements, results, evidence, and lessons learned from grant implementation.

• Ensure proper closure of grants, including final reporting and adherence to other donor requirements.

• Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in institutional grants management, awards management, program management, or a related field.

• Proven track record of managing complex institutional awards ranging from six to eight figures throughout implementation, reporting, and closure.

• Experience managing grants that involve multiple teams, countries, partners, or workstreams.

• Strong background in preparing high-quality narrative reports for institutional funders and working with grant budgets and financial data.

• Exceptional project management and organizational skills, with the capacity to oversee multiple grants, priorities, and deadlines concurrently.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including the capability to identify risks, apply sound judgment, and recognize when escalation is necessary.

• Excellent relationship management and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to foster effective relationships and accountability across teams without direct supervisory authority.

• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including the capacity to clearly and effectively synthesize complex program information.

• Experience with CRM, grants management, or associated information management systems.

• Ability to work effectively within a distributed international organization across various countries, cultures, functions, and time zones.

• Proficiency in written and spoken English.

• Applicants must have legal authorization to work for any employer in their country of residence.

• Experience within an international nonprofit, advocacy, or movement-building organization is a plus but not mandatory.

• Familiarity with developing or enhancing grants management systems, processes, or tools is desirable but not required.

• Experience in supporting knowledge management, organizational learning, or evidence capture, and applying insights to donor engagement or fundraising is a bonus but not essential.

• Understanding of climate justice, environmental justice, social justice, or other progressive movements is a plus but not mandatory.
