Senior Automation Project Manager – Critical Infrastructure

📋 Description

• Provide strategic direction for the Critical Infrastructure department.

• Plan, execute, and finalize large-scale, multi-site automation and integration programs for hyperscale and colocation data center campuses.

• Coordinate teams in BAS, PLC/SCADA, HVAC, electrical, and IT/OT networks from design through integrated systems testing and handover to the owner.

• Serve as the main liaison between contractors, equipment OEMs, commissioning agents, and hyperscale owner teams.

• Drive ambitious timelines utilizing phase overlap, prefabrication, and modular deployment strategies.

• Manage program P&L, risk mitigation, and executive-level reporting for high-value projects and programs.

• Oversee project initiation, design-assist, long-lead procurement, RFIs/submittals, factory witness testing, site installation, startup, IST, and turnover on concurrent schedules.

• Manage BAS/controls scope involving EPMS, distributed control systems, fire-life-safety, and owner DCIM platforms.

• Develop optimized build sequences, including workfaces, pods, and skids, to achieve speed-to-market goals.

• Evaluate and assess subcontractor proposals and provide recommendations for contract awards.

• Manage budgets, cash-flow forecasts, contingency plans, and earned-value tracking.

• Prepare change orders and negotiate contractual adjustments with clients and trade partners.

• Identify critical-path risks and implement strategies for mitigation.

• Chair weekly Big-Room meetings with owners, general contractors, trade partners, and commissioning authorities.

• Mentor project engineers and assistant project managers; allocate resources across multiple projects.

• Utilize digital twins, BIM 360/Procore, and AI-driven analytics to improve schedule certainty and foster continuous improvement.

• Contribute to the establishment of company best-practice standards and libraries for hyperscale delivery.

• Complete assigned tasks and deliverables on schedule and within budget.

• Perform other related duties as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field OR equivalent military/industry experience.

• 8+ years of experience in delivering mission-critical automation or controls projects.

• ≥4 years of experience as a lead or senior project manager on ≥50 MW data center builds or similar industrial megaprojects.

• Advanced knowledge of large-scale BAS, PLC, and SCADA platform implementation for industrial automation and mission-critical projects.

• Familiarity with Rockwell, Schneider, Siemens, Ignition, AVEVA, and Niagara 4 platforms.

• Understanding of BACnet, Modbus, OPC-UA, Fieldbus, and Profibus protocols.

• Knowledge of Uptime Institute Tier III/IV, NFPA 70E, IEEE 3004, and hyperscale owner design guidelines.

• Experience with level 4/5 Integrated Systems Testing (IST), MOP/SOP/EOP development, and turnover documentation.

• Proficiency in Primavera P6 or MS Project, Procore, BIM 360, and cost-management platforms.

• Proven ability to lead distributed teams in high-pressure, schedule-compressed environments.

• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills in client-facing situations.

• Ability to thrive in a remote work environment through effective communication, organizational skills, self-motivation, proactiveness, and resourcefulness in a distraction-free workspace.

• Capacity to identify and analyze complex problems, evaluate alternatives, and implement effective solutions.

• Ability to adhere to company and site safety protocols.

• Competence in analyzing and preparing documents, reports, and correspondence.

• Proficient in effective communication in both oral and written forms (technical and non-technical information).

• Capable of achieving certification for NFPA70E and/or OSHA training as required.

• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Willingness to travel up to 25%, including potential travel to all 50 US states.

• A valid REAL ID or an acceptable alternative, such as a passport, will be required for business air travel effective May 7, 2025.

• Preferred certifications include PMP, CCP, NICET IV.
