This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kentucky, +1 more state.
• Provide support to clients in Louisville, KY, and nearby areas.
• Execute control systems development tasks and formulate specifications with limited or no user requirements.
• Assess, select, and apply standard programming methodologies, procedures, and criteria independently.
• Manage one or more projects and oversee project team members as necessary.
• Collaborate with external clients and internal engineering teams.
• Collect field data and draft functional specifications.
• Develop DCS and/or PLC code.
• Create HMI graphics.
• Conduct client acceptance testing, software Factory Acceptance Testing, commissioning, and automation system start-up.
• Prepare project scopes, preliminary design concepts, and cost estimates.
• Report on project performance.
• Lead software development for both existing and new DCS/PLC-based control systems.
• Design operator graphic screens and interfaces for integration with other control systems and external computing platforms.
• Produce high-quality industrial software programs that meet project specifications.
• Coordinate and collaborate with various engineering disciplines.
• Assist in overseeing site-team safety and formulate control-system safety protocols.
• Mentor engineers and provide leadership and guidance to less experienced personnel.
• Engage in the continuous enhancement of Matrix standards, procedures, and project methodologies.
• Act as a client sponsor and assist in identifying new project opportunities.
• Lead proposal initiatives and establish yourself as a trusted resource for clients.
• Uphold Matrix Core Values and exemplify them for others.
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited institution.
• A minimum of six years of experience in controls, automation, and electrical troubleshooting and start-up.
• Must possess legal eligibility to work in the United States.
• Capable of accessing required client work locations.
• Willingness to travel approximately 15-25%, both locally and for overnight stays.
• Familiarity with protocols such as Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, and Modbus TCP/IP.
• Understanding of Process Control Network Architecture design.
• Preference for experience with Allen-Bradley, Rockwell Automation, Siemens, and Aveva.
• Knowledge of continuous batching processes and controls is advantageous.
• Experience as a Systems Integrator is a plus.
• Preferred experience with EPC projects.
• Background in distillery operations, process manufacturing, or industrial automation within the spirits industry is highly beneficial.
• Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) or Professional Engineer (PE) certification is preferred.
• A varied industrial background is advantageous.
• Familiarity with industries such as food and beverage, chemical, pharmaceuticals, or manufacturing.
• Capability to perform industrial fieldwork and navigate hazardous environments, inclement weather, moving machinery, noise, ladders, uneven surfaces, stairs, and food allergens.
• Ability to occasionally lift or move items weighing up to 25 pounds.
