Lead AI Automation Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +8 more states.

📋 Description

• Oversee the technical design and practical development of AI-driven automations, agentic workflows, and intelligent process orchestration tailored for enterprise Data Governance applications.

• Create solutions that integrate large language models, deterministic business logic, workflow engines, APIs, enterprise data, and human-in-the-loop controls.

• Develop reusable automation frameworks, services, connectors, prompts, tools, and engineering patterns.

• Seamlessly connect AI automation with metadata management, data catalogs, data quality, lineage, policy, ticketing, collaboration, and enterprise data platforms.

• Design APIs and services that enable agents and automations to securely access context, perform approved actions, and interact with enterprise systems.

• Utilize Power Platform and other low-code automation technologies as suitable while ensuring security, testing, and lifecycle discipline.

• Establish best practices for agent orchestration, tool utilization, state management, exception handling, observability, auditability, human approval, and failure recovery.

• Define and implement evaluation, testing, monitoring, and quality control measures for AI automations.

• Collaborate with architects, security, AI/data science teams, product owners, governance leaders, and application teams.

• Conduct technical reviews, mentor engineers, enhance engineering standards, and provide hands-on technical guidance.

• Identify promising automation opportunities and challenge unnecessary manual processes, transitions, and redundant workflows.

• Manage production readiness and operational support, including CI/CD, release management, telemetry, incident troubleshooting, continuous improvement, and responsible AI practices.

• Occasionally travel to Humana offices for training or meetings.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related technical discipline; or a combination of education and relevant professional experience.

• At least 5 years of experience in software engineering, application development, automation engineering, platform engineering, or enterprise systems integration.

• Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in developing AI/ML, generative AI, intelligent automation, or advanced automation solutions.

• Recent experience in creating LLM-enabled or agentic solutions.

• Proven experience in guiding complex automation or AI-enabled solutions from concept/prototype to production deployment and operational support.

• Experience in providing technical leadership, including solution design, engineering patterns, technical/code reviews, mentoring, or leading complex initiatives.

• A Master's degree in a related field is preferred.

• Over 7 years of overall engineering experience is preferred.

• Background in leading AI automation, generative AI, agentic AI, or intelligent process automation initiatives within a large enterprise is preferred.

• Experience in a regulated enterprise environment is preferred.

• Relevant certifications in cloud, AI, automation, or software engineering are preferred.

• A home internet connection with a minimum speed of 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload is required.

• Ability to work from a dedicated space without ongoing interruptions to safeguard PHI / HIPAA information.
