This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.
• Analyze and convey the implications of new laws and regulations.
• Engage with industry associations to remain updated on changes in the insurance marketplace, build networks, and uphold best practices awareness.
• Embed compliance duties across various functional areas.
• Create, execute, and uphold market conduct and compliance policies and procedures.
• Oversee adherence to regulatory software and conduct regular compliance audits.
• Collaborate with regulatory agencies during inquiries, examinations, and investigations.
• Disseminate market conduct and compliance policies to pertinent company sectors and project teams.
• Supervise organizational practices to ensure compliance with established procedures.
• Inform senior management about ongoing market conduct activities.
• Carry out audits, document findings, share results, and collaborate with business units for enhancements.
• Perform investigations of agents and reviews of agent appointments.
• Assess potential AML transactions and take necessary actions.
• Initiate measures to enhance persistency, quality, and customer satisfaction.
• Assist the general counsel and assistant general counsel by providing required information and documentation.
• Act as a liaison between the general counsel and functional areas as needed.
• Conduct regulatory research and prepare summaries that capture legal and regulatory obligations.
• Support product compliance initiatives as requested by management.
• A BA or BS in Business or equivalent professional experience is necessary.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in the insurance industry is required.
• At least 5 years of experience in compliance-related roles is preferred.
• A graduate degree such as a JD is preferred.
• Advanced industry designations like CLU or FLMI are preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of the insurance industry and business practices.
• Familiarity with company products, policies, and procedures.
• Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
• Capability to perform effectively under pressure.
• Professional demeanor with high integrity and credibility.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality concerning senior management matters.
• Proficient in interpreting laws and regulations and conducting regulatory research.
• Skilled in executing audits, investigations, and agent appointment reviews.
• Knowledgeable about AML transactions and appropriate responses.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and address challenging issues tactfully yet assertively.
