This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Oversee the architectural design for extensive hyperscale cloud data center and colocation initiatives from initial concept to construction administration and project completion.
• Partner with internal engineering teams, construction personnel, and external partners to create coordinated and integrated design solutions.
• Prepare and assess drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Guarantee adherence to codes, standards, and client design requirements.
• Collaborate with consultants, contractors, and permitting authorities to facilitate project delivery and regulatory compliance.
• Act as the architectural subject matter expert for hyperscale and colocation clients.
• Ensure design fosters operational efficiency, scalability, and reliability in facilities.
• Mentor and support junior architects and designers.
• Keep abreast of industry best practices and trends in data center design.
• Assist in business development, proposal writing, and conceptual architectural designs for new ventures.
• Collaborate with AECOM teams globally on prominent data center projects for international clients.
• Engage in occasional travel for client meetings, significant project milestones, onsite collaboration, or other essential business activities.
• Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 8 years of applicable experience or a proven equivalency of experience and/or education.
• Proven experience with colocation and hyperscale data center projects.
• Knowledgeable in building codes, mission-critical infrastructure standards, and data center design requirements.
• Proficient in BIM ACC (Revit), AutoCAD, and other related design software.
• Over 5 years of experience collaborating with hyperscale client standards and colocation facility delivery models.
• Valid U.S. Architectural license.
• LEED accreditation or equivalent sustainable design qualifications.
• Experience in dynamic, global project settings.
• Extensive experience working with permitting authorities and AHJs.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and project management abilities.
• Capable of working collaboratively within multidisciplinary and geographically diverse teams.
• Occasional travel may be necessary.
