This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Oversee the architectural design for extensive hyperscale cloud data center and colocation initiatives from initial concept through construction management and project closure.
• Engage with internal engineering teams, construction personnel, and external partners to create cohesive design solutions.
• Produce and evaluate drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Ensure adherence to codes, standards, and client-specific design criteria.
• Collaborate with consultants, contractors, and permitting authorities.
• Act as the architectural subject matter expert for hyperscale and colocation clientele.
• Guarantee operational efficiency, scalability, and reliability in facility designs.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior architects and designers.
• Uphold and implement industry best practices and current trends in data center design.
• Assist in business development, proposal drafting, and conceptual architectural designs for new opportunities.
• Collaborate with global AECOM teams on high-profile data center projects.
• Participate in occasional client meetings, project milestones, onsite collaboration sessions, and other critical business activities.
• A Bachelor’s Degree with at least 8 years of relevant experience or a proven equivalency of experience and/or education.
• Proven experience with colocation and hyperscale data center projects.
• Familiarity with building codes, mission-critical infrastructure standards, and data center design specifications.
• Proficient in BIM ACC (Revit), AutoCAD, and other related design software.
• Possession of an active U.S. Architectural license.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience working with hyperscale client standards and colocation facility delivery models.
• LEED accreditation or equivalent credentials in sustainable design.
• Experience in fast-paced, global project settings.
• Extensive experience interacting with permitting authorities and AHJs.
• Strong leadership, communication, and project management abilities.
• Capability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary and geographically diverse teams.
