Senior Android Engineer, Digital Twin Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and take ownership of Android applications for the Digital Twin Platform.

• Create independent scanning applications and Android-native experiences for Connected Stores projects, including Food Storm and Caper Cart integrations.

• Act as the technical leader for Android development efforts.

• Define architectural direction and set best engineering practices.

• Enhance code quality and engineering craftsmanship across the platform.

• Collaborate with teams from Caper, Inventory Intelligence, and Fulfillment.

• Provide Android solutions that support real-time shelf intelligence and large-scale in-store data collection.

• Balance long-term architectural considerations with the need for rapid shipping and iteration.

• Contribute to defining Android engineering practices for the Digital Twin Platform and other projects.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional experience in Android development using Kotlin and/or Java.

• Proven history of delivering production-quality Android applications.

• Extensive knowledge of Android SDK and Jetpack libraries.

• Familiarity with modern Android architecture patterns, such as MVVM and Clean Architecture.

• Experience in designing and building Android applications from the ground up.

• Capability to manage architecture decisions from start to finish.

• Proficiency in navigating ambiguous and fast-paced environments.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

• Experience working within cross-functional engineering teams.

• Preferred: background in enterprise tools, hardware integrations, kiosk applications, or scanning/barcode workflows.

• Preferred: understanding of Connected Stores technology, retail hardware platforms, or embedded Android environments.

• Preferred: experience with Bluetooth, NFC, camera APIs, or other Android hardware peripheral integrations.

• Preferred: history in data-intensive applications, real-time data pipelines, or inventory/logistics systems.

• Preferred: comfort in contributing to backend services or data engineering.
