Senior Analytics Engineer – Finance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop reliable financial data products utilizing automation and AI to decrease manual tasks and enhance the closing process.

• Collaborate with the Finance department to comprehend workflows, pinpoint challenges, and convert business requirements into data and automation solutions.

• Create and uphold automated workflows for data preparation, reconciliations, reporting, and follow-up actions.

• Establish controls, monitoring systems, and exception management protocols.

• Design dashboards and visual representations for performance evaluation, issue analysis, and decision-making support.

• Address finance data challenges and reconciliation discrepancies in collaboration with Finance, Product, and Engineering teams.

• Identify root causes and provide updates on progress.

• Construct scalable pipelines for collecting, transforming, and curating data from both internal platforms and external systems.

• Assist in the design and implementation of a reliable finance data lake, including definitions, ownership, and quality assurance checks.

• Enhance data timeliness and facilitate near-real-time insights where beneficial.

• Assess technologies, including AI-driven automation, and prototype solutions that can be supported in production.

• Work in conjunction with Data Engineers, Finance, and Platform Accounting to refine reporting and improve decision-making processes.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in data analytics and management within financial services or regulated sectors, directly collaborating with Finance teams.

• Proficient in SQL and Python, including the capability to write, debug, and maintain production-level code.

• Strong background in using Git for version control, including merge requests and conducting code reviews.

• Solid understanding of software engineering practices, encompassing testing and documentation.

• Practical experience in building and managing pipelines and models using tools such as dbt, Spark, Airflow, or similar technologies.

• Direct involvement with finance or accounting data, including reconciliations, subledgers, cost basis, or month-end closing processes.

• Experience in investigating discrepancies and validating results with accounting stakeholders.

• Proven track record of managing pipelines from start to finish while enhancing reliability as requirements and systems change.

• Ability to exercise judgment and autonomy to lead complex tasks, navigate uncertainty, and maintain accountability for production results.

• Experience in supporting regular financial closing activities and automating manual tasks.

• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across Engineering and Finance teams.

• Preferred: Familiarity with cryptocurrency transaction data and distributed frameworks such as Spark or PySpark.
