Senior Analytics Engineer – Finance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil, +6 more countries.

📋 Description

• Develop reliable financial data products for the Finance Data Engineering & Analytics team at Kraken.

• Leverage automation and AI-driven tools to minimize manual tasks and enhance the financial closing process.

• Collaborate with the Finance team to comprehend workflows, pinpoint challenges, and convert business requirements into data and automation solutions.

• Create and uphold automated workflows for data preparation, reconciliations, reporting, and follow-ups.

• Establish controls, monitoring systems, and exception handling procedures.

• Design dashboards and visualizations to facilitate performance analysis, issue resolution, and decision-making.

• Address finance data discrepancies and reconciliation issues in collaboration with Finance, Product, and Engineering teams.

• Identify root causes and communicate updates on progress.

• Construct scalable pipelines to gather, transform, and curate data from both internal platforms and external sources.

• Assist in the design and implementation of a trustworthy finance data lake, including definitions, ownership, and quality checks.

• Enhance data timeliness and enable near-real-time insights where beneficial.

• Assess technologies, including AI-assisted automation, and prototype solutions that can be supported in production.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in data analytics and management within the financial services sector or regulated industries, directly engaging with Finance teams.

• Proficient in SQL and Python, encompassing writing, debugging, and maintaining production-quality code.

• Solid experience with Git, including managing merge requests and conducting code reviews.

• Strong software engineering practices, emphasizing testing and documentation.

• Practical experience in constructing and managing pipelines and models using tools such as dbt, Spark, Airflow, or their equivalents.

• Direct experience with financial or accounting data, including reconciliations, subledgers, cost basis, or month-end closings.

• Proven experience in investigating discrepancies and validating results with accounting stakeholders.

• Demonstrated ability to manage pipelines from start to finish, enhancing reliability as requirements and systems evolve.

• Ability to exercise judgment and autonomy in leading complex tasks, navigating uncertainty, and remaining accountable for production results.

• Experience in supporting recurring financial closing activities.

• Excellent communication skills and capability to collaborate effectively across Engineering and Finance departments.

• Nice to have: experience with cryptocurrency transaction data and digital asset activities in financial records and reconciliations.

• Nice to have: experience in processing large volumes of financial transactions using Spark or PySpark.
