This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and enhance scalable data transformation pipelines in BigQuery utilizing Dataform and SQL.

• Assist in migrating enterprise data warehouse workloads from Teradata to BigQuery.

• Analyze, convert, and verify existing data models and logic.

• Identify, document, and manage the centralized Common Data Model hub.

• Facilitate the onboarding of new CDM consumers, providing guidance on data models and integration.

• Evaluate business KPIs to ensure accurate definitions, calculations, and application within the data model.

• Maintain proficiency in data structures, lineage, and semantics.

• Lead testing, validation, and reconciliation efforts between Teradata and BigQuery.

• Optimize BigQuery workloads for enhanced performance, cost-effectiveness, and maintainability.

• Contribute to the development of documentation, modeling standards, and engineering best practices.

• Collaborate with engineers, analysts, architects, and business stakeholders.


⛳️ Requirements

• Professional experience in roles such as Analytics Engineer, Data Engineer, or BI Engineer.

• Demonstrated senior-level ownership and autonomy.

• Strong practical SQL skills, including complex transformations, analytical queries, and performance optimization.

• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform, especially BigQuery.

• Familiarity with Dataform or a comparable SQL-based transformation framework, like dbt, with a willingness to engage with Dataform.

• Knowledge of dimensional modeling, layered architectures, and hub-and-spoke/common data model methodologies.

• Ability to comprehend business KPIs and effectively translate definitions and applications into maintainable data model implementations.

• Experience in ensuring data quality through testing, validation, and dataset reconciliation.

• Regular use of AI tools to enhance productivity, automate repetitive tasks, support decision-making, and achieve higher-quality results.

• Capability to utilize AI tools responsibly, formulate effective prompts, critically validate outputs, understand limitations, and take ownership of final results.

• Excellent communication skills in English.

• Nice to have: Experience with Teradata SQL, BTEQ, Teradata-to-BigQuery migrations, Python, GCP data services, BI/reporting tools, data governance/cataloging/lineage, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, or Google Cloud certification.
