Senior Analyst – National Characterization

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee the acquisition, stewardship, analysis, and reporting of material characterization data throughout CAA states.

• Create and uphold national standards for data quality, consistency, and comparability.

• Spearhead the development and upkeep of national sorting category frameworks.

• Assess state and local waste characterization studies for methodological alignment and potential integration.

• Provide strategic direction to state teams regarding data quality and reporting challenges.

• Supervise the incorporation of characterization data into enterprise data structures and analytical frameworks.

• Enhance processes for data intake, validation, metadata management, documentation, assumptions, and version control.

• Formulate analytical methodologies for metrics related to contamination, capture, and recycling rates.

• Lead comparative and trend analyses, cross-state benchmarking, visualizations, and reporting outputs.

• Establish QA/QC frameworks, validation standards, acceptance criteria, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

• Collaborate with the Data & Analytics team on data architecture, workflows, reporting, and analytical requirements.

• Report directly to the Senior Manager – National Characterization.

• Execute additional responsibilities as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree is mandatory.

• 7–10 years of progressively responsible experience in waste characterization, recycling, materials management, environmental data analysis, or related disciplines.

• Proven experience in leading intricate data initiatives and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders.

• Advanced proficiency in Python and/or R is essential.

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel are required.

• Experience managing large, complex datasets is necessary.

• Familiarity with implementing data governance, QA/QC, and quality management practices.

• In-depth understanding of waste characterization methodologies, material classification systems, and the development of performance metrics.

• Experience in creating scalable, reproducible analytical workflows is preferred.

• Proven experience in developing standards, SOPs, governance frameworks, or data management practices.

• Strong skills in project leadership, organization, and stakeholder management are essential.

• Ability to effectively communicate technical analyses, methodologies, and data limitations.

• A Master's degree in a relevant field is preferred.
