This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut.
• Conduct validations of essential models utilized across The Hartford’s various functional areas and business lines.
• Ensure that model calculations are precise and suitable for their intended applications.
• Evaluate key data inputs and assumptions for their accuracy and relevance.
• Analyze model outputs for precision and appropriate downstream application.
• Provide constructive challenge to modeling inputs, calculations, outputs, conceptual integrity, monitoring and controls, and documentation practices.
• Identify issues and propose recommendations to minimize model risk.
• Prepare clear, concise, and well-organized model validation reports.
• Conduct thorough assessments of model risk.
• Oversee governance responsibilities related to tracking findings, conducting remediation testing, and validation processes.
• Enhance collaborations with Data Science and Actuarial teams.
• Educate stakeholders on best practices in modeling and promote awareness of model risk.
• Assist in the upkeep of the enterprise model risk management framework, including policies, standards, procedures, and governance protocols.
• Monitor external developments, implement best practices, suggest process enhancements, and update standards and guidelines.
• Advanced degree in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Computational Science, Quantitative Economics, Engineering, or a similar analytical field.
• Over 5 years of experience in Property & Casualty (P&C), Group, Life, or related insurance products.
• Preferably holds ACAS/ASA or FCAS/FSA designation and/or CFA.
• Proficient in Excel/VBA, R, Python, SAS/SQL, C++, and Java.
• Practical experience with predictive modeling and data science techniques is preferred.
• Project management expertise is a valuable asset.
• Familiarity with Supervisory Guidance on Model Risk Management (SR 11-7/ SR 26-2, PRA SS1/23) is considered advantageous.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently with proactive self-management and meet deadlines while adjusting to changing priorities.
• Strong analytical, critical, and investigative thinking capabilities.
