This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut, +4 more states.
• Take ownership of, design, and continually enhance SKU- and category-level assortment productivity reporting.
• Establish clear definitions and data lineage utilized for assortment planning.
• Conduct rationalization analysis for the exit, consolidation, and transition of underperforming SKUs.
• Quantify the impacts on sales, margin, and productivity, and present recommendations to the Merchant and Planning leadership.
• Develop and uphold depth and breadth methodology models, encompassing price point coverage and good-better-best architecture.
• Lead analysis of market trends, consumer behavior, and competitive landscape to pinpoint assortment gaps and identify whitespace opportunities.
• Define methodologies, assumptions, and quality assurance standards across assortment analytics.
• Review the work of junior analysts for precision and rigor.
• Create and manage pre- and post-launch performance scorecards.
• Diagnose forecast variances and translate findings into future assumptions.
• Oversee item transition and end-of-life analysis.
• Collaborate with Demand Planning to enhance new item forecasting methodologies.
• Generate executive-ready assortment reports on a set schedule.
• Provide guidance to Merchants and Planners for designated categories and challenge assumptions using data insights.
• Define the scope and deliver intricate ad hoc analysis for in-season decisions and line review preparations.
• Automate recurring analyses and create scalable self-service reporting tools.
• Offer technical guidance to less experienced analysts.
• Deliver assortment productivity reporting, rationalization analysis, new item forecasting, and post-launch scorecarding that significantly influence assortment decisions.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Analytics, Statistics, or a related discipline.
• 4–7 years of analytical experience, demonstrating expertise in retail merchandising, planning, or analytics.
• Advanced Excel capabilities, including multi-variable modeling, handling large datasets, and developing tools relied upon by others.
• Proficient in SQL, with the ability to independently source, join, and validate data across various systems.
• Proven ability to operate independently in ambiguous situations and structure analysis without direct supervision.
• Strong communication and storytelling abilities, with experience in presenting analysis and recommendations to senior leadership.
• Experience in mentoring analysts or reviewing analytical work for quality assurance.
• Preferred: Proficient in Power BI, Tableau, or similar visualization tools, including dashboard design.
• Preferred: Background in furniture, home, or big-ticket retail.
• Preferred: Hands-on experience with assortment planning or demand planning systems (e.g., Logility, o9, Blue Yonder).
• Preferred: Familiarity with Python, R, or similar tools for advanced analysis.
