Senior AI Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia.

📋 Description

• Define and enhance the technical architecture for Caseware’s AI platform.

• Establish architectural standards, contracts, and design principles aimed at creating scalable, secure, reusable, and trustworthy AI capabilities.

• Design, build, and manage AI systems that utilize LLMs, retrieval pipelines, agentic workflows, and AI-enabled services.

• Develop multi-agent systems, agent execution runtimes, workflow orchestration, memory management, and human-in-the-loop AI functionalities.

• Implement frameworks for evaluation, governance, auditability, and traceability.

• Translate advancements in AI into actionable platform capabilities that address customer needs.

• Shape technical direction through architecture reviews, RFCs, design discussions, and collaborative efforts.

• Assess emerging AI technologies, models, frameworks, and cloud capabilities.

• Lead proof-of-concept initiatives that inform platform strategy and future investments.

• Balance the need for speed in delivery, quality, maintainability, and the long-term health of the platform.

• Promote practices for reliability, observability, monitoring, alerting, and incident response.

• Ensure that systems are resilient, scalable, cost-effective, and operationally efficient in production.

• Collaborate with Product, QA, Security, Domain SMEs, and Engineering teams.

• Serve as a trusted technical leader through collaboration, influence, and shared ownership.

• Mentor engineers and enhance overall engineering maturity.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of professional software engineering experience, demonstrating impact beyond a single team.

• At least 2 years of experience in building and operating production AI systems.

• Proven track record in designing distributed, SaaS, cloud-native, multi-tenant platforms at scale.

• Experience in implementing AI guardrails, governance controls, and safety mechanisms.

• Strong understanding of the trade-offs in AI systems, including latency, cost, accuracy, reliability, and scalability.

• Extensive experience in building and operating production systems on AWS.

• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code using CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform.

• Experience mentoring engineers and influencing architectural decisions across teams.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills in English.

• Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments characterized by ambiguity and changing requirements.

• Experience in managing systems within regulated or compliance-heavy domains (preferred).

• Familiarity with accounting, auditing, or financial workflows (preferred).
