Senior AI Security Research Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Conduct security evaluations of Samsara’s software, code, and firmware to protect against AI-driven and adversarial threats.

• Implement security enhancements for applications, software, hardware, and firmware.

• Convert general findings related to AI security into specific application security solutions for Samsara.

• Modify software security methodologies to accommodate hardware and embedded firmware.

• Develop and rigorously test AI-powered security tools and processes.

• Foster the adoption of essential security tools within the wider security team.

• Collaborate with engineering teams, hardware departments, and leadership, including participating in VP-level threat modeling sessions.

• Act as Samsara’s expert on AI-related security risks.

• Establish and lead Samsara’s medium- and long-term strategy for the secure and effective integration of AI in security operations.

• Perform offensive validation and red-team assessments of Samsara’s systems utilizing cutting-edge AI and LLM tools.

• Promote Samsara’s cultural principles as the organization expands globally.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in application security, vulnerability management, threat modeling, offensive security, or a related field.

• Proven impact and influence of application fixes across significant portions of an organization.

• Practical experience applying AI and LLM tools to actual security workflows, including APIs, agents, or automation.

• Experience in conducting technical security evaluations across software and hardware/firmware environments.

• Proficient in developing secure coding solutions with engineers using programming languages like GoLang.

• Skilled in creating AI and agent-based solutions utilizing GitHub and AWS cloud services.

• Necessary experience in integrating, securing, or red-teaming AI-enabled systems such as LLMs, agentic workflows, prompt injection, or adversarial testing.

• Familiarity with AI-specific attack strategies, including prompt injection, jailbreaks, and model/agent exploitation.

• Experience in creating or validating security measures for agentic AI, RAG systems, or platforms integrated with LLM.

• A history of influencing organization-wide security strategies or presenting technical insights to senior or executive stakeholders.

• Relevant industry certifications such as OSCP, GIAC, CISSP, or AWS certifications are preferred.
