Senior Advisor, Integrated Strategy

📋 Description

• Oversee the operations of NILC and the NILC Immigrant Justice Fund by driving strategic growth and impactful advocacy initiatives.

• Collaborate with the EVP of Advocacy and senior leadership to translate the organization's vision into cohesive advocacy strategies, campaigns, and execution plans.

• Create workflow structures and initiatives to foster cross-departmental alignment.

• Provide direction for organizational strategy, growth, and long-term viability.

• Guide strategic planning efforts and adaptive, integrated strategies across various departments.

• Transform priorities into quarterly and annual plans, milestones, and decision-making frameworks.

• Assist in the development and execution of C3/C4 strategy and programming.

• Track strategic goals and offer analysis, recommendations, and reports to executive leadership.

• Establish and sustain coalitions both internally and externally at the intersection of immigration and democracy.

• Lead cross-functional teams and oversee consultants, vendors, and external partners.

• Act as a representative for the organization in high-level strategic discussions and decision-making forums.

• Maintain strategic frameworks and shared priorities across departments and leadership teams.

• Support rapid-response strategies and adjust programs as necessary based on evolving circumstances.

• Contribute to electoral strategy, issue campaigns, and partnership efforts.

• Aid in the fundraising strategy and execution across C3/C4 frameworks.

• Produce fundraising materials and communications for donors.

• Cultivate and manage relationships with philanthropic partners and major donors.

• Mentor staff and partner organizations on integrating strategies.

• Enhance and standardize internal systems, templates, processes, and workflows.

• Execute recruitment, interviews, hiring, and training of staff.

• Oversee both direct and indirect reports, including performance management and disciplinary actions.

• Encourage collaboration, innovation, adaptive strategies, accountability, and staff development.

• Attend and engage in NILC meetings while supporting colleagues across teams.

• Carry out other responsibilities as assigned based on organizational needs.


⛳️ Requirements

• Advanced degree in a relevant field (Political Science, Public Policy, Latin American Studies, or a related discipline) or substantial relevant experience in strategic advocacy/nonprofit strategy.

• A minimum of 12 years of progressive leadership experience within nonprofit, advocacy, or political organizations.

• At least four (4) years of experience in a supervisory role.

• Proven track record of senior leadership and strategic expertise, demonstrating measurable organizational outcomes.

• Extensive experience with C4 advocacy and campaigns, along with a proven ability to develop and implement effective advocacy strategies.

• Demonstrated experience leading multi-issue coalitions and fostering alignment among diverse stakeholders.

• Commitment to the missions of NILC & IJF, as well as to human rights, racial, economic, and social justice, and equity, diversity, and inclusion.

• Collaborative, proactive, and results-driven work style.

• Strong judgment, high integrity, and respect for confidentiality.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.

• Capability to analyze, interpret, create, and update substantial written materials.

• Ability to engage in courageous conversations and simplify complex advocacy issues for diverse audiences.

• Strong strategic skills to align daily tasks with organizational objectives and needs.

• Expertise in managing projects within progressive movement organizations.

• Capacity to collaboratively develop strategies in a mission-driven, culturally diverse environment.

• Ability to make challenging decisions regarding organizational stances, coalition decisions, and resource allocation.

• Skill in formulating clear strategies and plans for advocacy, partnerships, and campaigns.

• Knowledge of advocacy and the dynamics of strategies and tactics within that space.

• Proven success in crafting compelling proposals to secure grant funding.

• Ability to present complex programmatic information in a clear and persuasive manner.

• Inclusive and responsive management approach.

• Proficiency in MS Office, internet research, and virtual collaboration tools.

• Applicants must reside in one of the designated remote work locations: Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Georgia, Maryland, Montana, North Carolina, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia, or Wisconsin.

• Up to 30% of overnight interstate travel may be necessary.

• Experience in immigration law or policy is strongly preferred.

• Previous experience in nonprofit organizations is preferred.

• Proficiency in non-English languages spoken by specified communities is preferred; fluency in multiple languages is desirable.
