Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Execute and review activities related to the general ledger, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.

• Assist with the month-end and year-end closing procedures.

• Develop financial statements, supporting schedules, variance analyses, and internal management reports.

• Aid in the budgeting and forecasting processes.

• Create monthly and quarterly internal reporting packages for finance and accounting leadership.

• Prepare quarterly and annual financial reports akin to Form 10-Q/10-K, standalone entity financials, and other periodic reporting documents.

• Oversee the quarterly and annual financial preparation, which includes gathering footnotes and support schedules, updating documents, drafting narrative content, and completing disclosure checklists.

• Ensure adherence to internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.

• Facilitate internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations; coordinate the delivery of audit requests across various teams.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.

• Stay updated on accounting and financial reporting developments, assist with impact analysis and implementation planning, draft technical accounting memoranda, and support auditor reviews.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting.

• 4-6 years of accounting experience in public accounting or industry.

• In-depth knowledge of US GAAP, accounting principles, and internal controls.

• Strong financial literacy.

• Experience with general ledger and other financial systems.

• Proficiency in preparing account reconciliations and analyses.

• Familiarity with ERP systems such as Workday, Oracle, SAP, or PeopleSoft.

• Excellent communication and presentation skills.

• Experience with OracleEPM/Hyperion or similar financial data tools is advantageous.

• An active CPA license or near completion of CPA candidacy is highly preferred.

• A background in Big 4/public accounting or the retail, tech, or manufacturing industries is preferred.

• Advanced skills in Excel are preferred.

• Familiarity with SOX compliance or other regulatory frameworks is preferred.

• Exposure to automation or process optimization initiatives is preferred.
