Senior Accountant – Cleanup Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Conduct thorough investigations into disorganized financial records to ascertain the reasons behind discrepancies.

• Follow transaction trails to identify errors, missing data, and flawed processes.

• Formulate and implement actionable cleanup strategies.

• Reconstruct financial transactions when current records are insufficient.

• Reconcile and validate balance sheet accounts, including cash, payroll, loans, revenue, prepaids, accruals, fixed assets, and equity.

• Prepare supporting schedules and documentation that clarify the accuracy of financial figures.

• Revamp charts of accounts as necessary.

• Streamline financial reports to enhance understanding for business owners.

• Analyze invoicing, payroll, inventory, and expense workflows to pinpoint issues.

• Assist in establishing processes to avert recurring problems.

• Diagnose complex QuickBooks Online issues and rectify persistent discrepancies.

• Leverage modern accounting technologies and AI to address challenges and boost efficiency.

• Engage directly with clients to collect information, clarify accounting matters, and ensure project progression.

• Collaborate with the Breakwater team, document processes, and facilitate smooth transitions to the ongoing accounting team.

• Oversee multiple cleanup projects concurrently.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.

• Over 5 years of advanced accounting, audit, or comprehensive bookkeeping experience.

• In-depth knowledge of balance sheet functionality.

• Familiarity with accruals, revenue recognition, depreciation, amortization, and other intricate accounting principles.

• Previous experience as a reviewer, senior accountant, auditor, or similar role.

• Demonstrated success in rectifying disorganized or inaccurate financial records.

• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online at an expert level.

• Strong investigative skills and problem-solving capabilities.

• Capability to maintain focus and see challenges through to resolution.

• Confidence in articulating complex financial concepts to individuals without an accounting background.

• Competence in managing several projects while maintaining attention to detail.

• Experience in a multi-client, outsourced accounting setup is advantageous.

• Familiarity with Xero, Dext, Ramp, BILL, Gusto, ACS/Realm, and advanced Excel is a plus.
