Senior Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nevada.

📋 Description

• Enhance and expand Vay’s accounting function during a significant growth phase.

• Manage month-end closing activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analysis, consolidations, intercompany, and foreign currency accounting across various entities and countries.

• Innovate new processes and reconciliations while bolstering existing procedures, internal controls, finance systems, audit readiness, and management reporting.

• Investigate and determine the appropriate accounting treatment for new or complex transactions.

• Develop and maintain documentation for processes, controls, and accounting positions.

• Identify and assist in the implementation of AI and automation solutions to minimize manual work during month-end closing.

• Manage and reconcile accruals, and review monthly budget versus actual results with FP&A and the business.

• Prepare audit deliverables and state and regulatory tax filings.

• Mentor junior team members on closing tasks and intricate transactions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of accounting experience (preferably in public accounting and/or high-growth tech), with a solid background in month-end closing and audit preparation.

• Confident in making sound accounting decisions and establishing processes in the absence of standard procedures.

• Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and enhance closing processes and internal controls for improved efficiency and risk management.

• Experience with IFRS reporting is preferred; a strong background in US GAAP is also appreciated.

• Practical experience utilizing AI or automation to optimize accounting tasks, with a keen judgment on when to review outputs.

• Familiarity with NetSuite or similar ERP systems.

• Proficient in Excel.

• Background in Big 4 accounting firms / Active CPA.

• Knowledge of multi-entity accounting and consolidations across different countries.

• Experience in inventory management.

• Familiarity with VAT and German GAAP (HGB).

• Detail-oriented, proactive team player capable of influencing stakeholders and managing ambiguity.
