Senior Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Oversee comprehensive accounts payable operations, including procurement, the entire purchase order process, invoice management, vendor upkeep, weekly payment cycles, and reconciliation of the accounts payable subledger.

• Direct the daily Concur employee expense operations, which encompass policy compliance assessments, submission and approval tracking, verification of expense coding, and processing reimbursements.

• Assist in the monthly closing process through reconciliations, journal entries, expense coding, and financial estimations related to cash, intercompany transactions, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, accounts payable, accruals, credit card liabilities, payroll, and various operating costs.

• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls, including the segregation of duties mandates under IFRS and corporate policies.

• Evaluate third-party payroll, post bi-monthly payroll entries and monthly accruals, and manage the payroll general inbox.

• Address payroll inquiries from employees and third-party vendors.

• Facilitate regulatory compliance, covering local and state tax filings, business license renewals, state annual reports, payroll compliance, and exemption certificates.

• Supervise the accounting coordinator by assigning and prioritizing tasks, reviewing work, mentoring, coaching, training, and providing constructive feedback.

• Aid in external and internal audits by preparing or reviewing audit schedules, footnotes, tax schedules, and tax documentation.

• Offer backup support for other team functions and collaborate with the Accounting Manager and Controller.

• Execute special projects as assigned.

• Carry out responsibilities accurately and efficiently to meet set deadlines.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required.

• 3–5 years of experience in accounting or finance, with a strong preference for candidates from Big 4 firms and/or the CPG industry.

• Familiarity with NetSuite or a similar accounting system, along with intermediate proficiency in Excel.

• A working knowledge of GAAP and/or IFRS, with the capability to research accounting issues as they emerge.

• Strong understanding of accounting processes and internal controls, with the ability to identify control weaknesses and propose effective solutions.

• Exceptional attention to detail.

• Outstanding organizational and planning abilities, with a talent for managing multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, collaborative environment and work efficiently under pressure to meet tight deadlines.

• Team-oriented, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to ethical practices.
