Senior Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Oversee all transactions related to the general ledger

• Create monthly reconciliations for the balance sheet

• Prepare and evaluate monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial statements

• Manage and reconcile extensive and intricate data sets to ensure financial precision

• Investigate discrepancies and address data variances in a timely fashion

• Work collaboratively with internal teams to enhance reconciliation procedures

• Compile, file, and reconcile sales and use tax returns across various jurisdictions

• Conduct research to ensure adherence to state and local sales tax regulations

• Communicate with tax authorities to resolve discrepancies or inquiries

• Ensure compliance with GAAP standards and organizational policies

• Assist in the annual audit process by preparing necessary documentation and responding to auditor inquiries

• Develop and uphold internal control procedures to protect company assets

• Provide support and mentorship to junior accountants and staff as necessary

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to advance company-wide initiatives

• Deliver precise monthly financial statements, reconciliations, and supporting schedules within 8 days after month-end

• Scale sales tax accounting in line with company growth, including the management of sales tax software

• Identify and rectify variances swiftly, addressing discrepancies within 8 business days

• Proficient in accounting software and possess advanced Excel capabilities

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen eye for detail

• Excellent communication and organizational skills

• Must be at least 18 years old

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline

• Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience

• Familiarity with sales tax reporting

• Experience in reconciling large data sets

• Background in treasury management

• CPA designation is highly preferred

• Experience in the healthcare or long-term care insurance sectors is an asset

• Candidates should have a reliable internet connection and a designated workspace suitable for professional phone calls and handling sensitive data
