Senior Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee comprehensive accounting cycles and manage full month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closures for a diverse client portfolio.

• Execute daily multi-account bank reconciliations, accruals, credit card reconciliations, and balance sheet reconciliations.

• Compile monthly financial statement packages that include Profit & Loss statements, Balance Sheets, Statements of Cash Flows, and Budget vs. Actual reports.

• Translate financial data into actionable recommendations for client teams and leadership.

• Reconcile Three-Way IOLTA/Trust account ledgers following state bar regulations and ethical standards.

• Track client billable hours, trust retainers, hard/soft cost disbursements, and partner distributions.

• Integrate legal billing systems such as Clio, MyCase, and Practice Partner with general ledger software.

• Monitor restricted and unrestricted funds, grants, contributions, and pledged revenue in accordance with ASC 958.

• Supervise expenditures against grant budgets and assist in the preparation of Form 990.

• Contribute to annual audit requirements, including Single Audits/Uniform Guidance.

• Generate functional expense allocations for Program, Management/General, and Fundraising activities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in full-cycle GAAP accounting.

• Prior experience in multi-client, outsourced accounting, or public accounting is essential.

• Direct experience with IOLTA/Trust accounting in the legal field or Fund/Grant accounting within the non-profit sector is required.

• Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online is mandatory.

• Strong Excel capabilities, including expertise in PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data manipulation.

• Familiarity with billing systems such as Bill.com and Expensify is necessary.

• Experience with industry-specific software such as Clio, MyCase, and Aplos is preferred.

• A Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required.

• Demonstrated analytical skills, effective time management, strong technical ability, and absolute integrity with sensitive financial information.
