This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Prepare monthly accruals for clinical trials, prepaid roll-forwards, and reconciliations in line with ASC 730.
• Collect enrollment, site activity, and milestone data from Clinical Operations for accrual calculations.
• Review invoices from CROs and clinical sites against contracted milestones and fee schedules; investigate any discrepancies.
• Assist with R&D expense accounting, including accruals, amortization of prepaids, and cost allocations.
• Aid in technical accounting assessments of clinical trial agreements.
• Maintain documentation and supporting schedules related to clinical trial and R&D accounting.
• Collaborate with Clinical Operations, Legal, Procurement, and FP&A on research-related expenditures.
• Conduct month-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and flux analysis.
• Generate fluctuation analyses and clarify financial trends and variances.
• Review, investigate, and rectify accounting errors and reporting issues.
• Ensure adherence to GAAP, internal controls, and the company’s accounting policies.
• Communicate accounting, financial reporting, and control concerns to management.
• Assist with internal and external audit requests and prepare necessary supporting documentation.
• Implement SOX 404(b) controls related to clinical trial and R&D accounting.
• Contribute to initiatives for process improvements, automation, scalability, and operational efficiency.
• Work collaboratively to enhance reporting accuracy and streamline month-end closing processes.
• A minimum of 2–3 years of accounting or auditing experience is required.
• A background in public accounting/audit is necessary; experience with Big 4 firms is strongly preferred.
• Preferred experience in the biotechnology, life sciences, healthcare, or pharmaceutical sectors.
• Experience in supporting R&D or clinical trial accounting activities is preferred.
• A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required; a combination of education and experience may be considered.
• CPA certification is preferred but not mandatory.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel is required, including knowledge of complex formulas, pivot tables, and financial modeling.
• Experience with Oracle Fusion ERP is preferred.
• Familiarity with Google Workspace, including Gmail, Google Sheets, and Google Docs, is preferred.
• Strong understanding of accrual accounting and GAAP, particularly ASC 730 R&D accounting.
• Experience with clinical trial accounting, CRO/vendor management, or life sciences accounting processes is preferred.
• Ability to perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Capable of working independently with a strong sense of ownership.
