Senior Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.

📋 Description

• Oversee accounting and compliance obligations for a portfolio of clients based in Australia.

• Prepare and evaluate financial statements, management accounts, and additional financial reports.

• Handle and manage tax compliance requirements for individuals, companies, trusts, and related entities in Australia.

• Prepare and assess Business Activity Statements (BAS).

• Provide assistance with Division 7A matters and associated compliance requirements.

• Conduct reconciliations, journals, month-end processes, and reviews of general ledger.

• Manage accounting tasks across multi-entity and group structures.

• Oversee client accounting workflows from data processing to completion and review.

• Utilize Xero and Excel for accounting data management, reporting, reconciliations, and client-related tasks.

• Recognize inefficient processes and implement automation or streamlining measures.

• Leverage AI and other technologies to enhance workflow efficiency, research, documentation, analysis, and routine accounting tasks.

• Maintain precise working papers and supporting documentation.

• Detect discrepancies, compliance issues, and potential risks, and take necessary actions.

• Engage with clients and internal stakeholders regarding accounting, compliance, and financial matters.

• Assist senior team members and contribute to the efficient delivery of client work.

• Continuously enhance accounting processes, systems, and workflows.

⛳️ Requirements

• Candidate must be based in the Philippines.

• At least 5 years of hands-on experience in Australian public practice accounting is required.

• Proven track record of functioning at a Senior Accountant level within an Australian accounting or business advisory firm.

• Strong knowledge of Australian accounting and tax compliance is essential.

• Practical experience in accounts preparation, taxation, BAS, and Division 7A is necessary.

• In-depth understanding of Australian accounting and compliance requirements.

• Experience with Xero and strong skills in Microsoft Excel are a must.

• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple clients and/or multi-entity/group structures.

• Proven capability to oversee accounting workflows independently from preparation to completion.

• Experience in identifying repetitive tasks for automation or streamlining personal accounting workflows is essential.

• Practical experience with AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or similar is required.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail abilities are vital.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are necessary.

• Ability to work independently while juggling multiple deadlines and priorities.

• Strong organizational skills and a proactive approach to process improvement are essential.

• High level of professional integrity in managing confidential client and financial information is a must.

• CA or CPA qualification is preferable.

• Experience with complex corporate, trust, partnership, or group structures is advantageous.

• Familiarity with accounting practice management or workflow software is a plus.

• Experience in implementing automation across accounting or compliance workflows is beneficial.

• Experience working with Australian SME clients is desirable.

• Advanced Excel skills, including financial models, complex formulas, Power Query, or similar, are advantageous.

• Familiarity with additional accounting platforms or practice management systems is preferred.

• Must disclose any ongoing roles or client work.

• Must indicate this engagement on LinkedIn as “Independent Contractor”.

• Expected to align with Australian business hours, approximately 9 AM–5 PM, Monday to Friday.

• Maintain a high level of professional integrity when handling confidential client and financial information.
