Senior Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Collaborate closely with the Controller and Finance Manager on fund accounting, IFRS reporting, full-cycle closing, and external audits.

• Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting documentation for both monthly and quarterly closings.

• Assist with IFRS reporting and the preparation of internal and external reporting packages.

• Conduct variance analyses, investigate reconciling items, and resolve any discrepancies.

• Provide support for consolidations involving multiple entities and investment structures.

• Manage accounting for accruals, investments, loans, leases, and treasury-related activities.

• Oversee fund accounting reconciliations and reporting processes for IntelligentInvesting Securities Inc.

• Prepare schedules to support audits and liaise with external auditors during fund and corporate audits.

• Maintain audit-ready working papers and supporting documentation year-round.

• Collaborate across functions to ensure accounting outputs accurately reflect business activities.

• Identify opportunities for workflow enhancements and reconciliation improvements.

• Contribute to automation and process enhancement initiatives within Finance systems.

• Take on increasingly complex tasks with minimal supervision and work towards the Finance Manager role.

⛳️ Requirements

• CPA designation (or nearing completion).

• 3–5 years of progressive experience in accounting.

• Background in Big 4 or a national firm is essential.

• Foundation in IFRS.

• Experience with external audits – including preparation and coordination, not merely familiarity.

• Proficient in Excel and ERP systems.

• Experience with NetSuite is a plus.

• Capable of independently investigating and resolving accounting issues.

• Strong sense of ownership.

• Genuine enthusiasm for process improvement and working in a fast-paced, lean environment.

• Must be based in Canada.
