This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.
• Transition accounting operations in-house from the outsourced provider and oversee the finance function on a daily basis instead of monthly.
• Manage daily bookkeeping using QuickBooks for the US and Zoho Books for India, including categorization of transactions, bank-feed reconciliation, and clearing tasks.
• Report daily cash positions for both entities and currencies while maintaining a rolling 13-week cash forecast.
• Ensure a continuously queryable ledger with a consistent chart of accounts, proper naming and tagging, and no uncategorized or suspense items.
• Conduct budget-versus-actual reporting for MDF and similar partner-funded initiatives, monitoring budgets, purchase orders, invoices, payments, claims, and reimbursements.
• Gather PO approvals, vendor invoices, and proof-of-performance documentation.
• Oversee revenue collection, invoice generation against SOW milestones, follow up on overdue receivables, and communicate risks to the founders.
• Acquire records, access, and opening balances from the current provider while establishing dependable accounting processes.
• Recognize revenue from fixed-fee and fixed-date SOWs, accounting for performance obligations and variable considerations.
• Manage AWS partner economics, including marketplace disbursements, MAP funding claims, rebates, co-sell incentives, and sales compensation accruals.
• Take charge of the compliance calendar for both India and the US, managing external CPA and CA firms, reconciling intercompany accounts, and maintaining transfer pricing support.
• Prepare and initiate payments for review and approval by the founders.
• Report directly to the founders and operate autonomously.
• Chartered Accountant in India with a minimum of 3 years of professional experience post-articleship.
• Full accountability for the entire closing process, from open items to finalized financial statements.
• Strong commitment to timely transaction categorization, receivables collection, and PO documentation.
• Ability to pursue documentation from colleagues and payments from customers without unnecessary escalation.
• Experience in budget-versus-actual reporting against fixed program budgets, with commitments tracked separately from incurred costs.
• Comfort with managing two ledgers and two currencies while ensuring they remain reconciled.
• Sound judgment to operate without a controller, including knowing when to involve an external CPA or founder and escalating issues early.
• Availability from 2:00 pm to 11:00 pm IST.
• Proficient in written English.
• Preferred: US CPA or in progress toward it; employer will sponsor remaining exams and fees.
• Preferred: experience with daily or weekly closing processes.
• Preferred: experience with rolling cash forecasts.
• Preferred: familiarity with ASC 606 or Ind AS 115 in relation to services revenue.
• Preferred: experience with US-India two-entity structures, intercompany accounting, and transfer pricing.
• Preferred: cloud partner program accounting experience for AWS, Azure, or GCP, including marketplace settlements, MDF/MAP claims, and rebates.
• Preferred: knowledge of restricted-fund or grant accounting.
• Preferred: experience with close automation.
• Equal opportunities in all employment practices.
• Sponsorship for the US CPA exam and associated fees for candidates pursuing the US CPA.
• Remote work arrangement.
