This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee daily accounting functions including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll assistance, and financial reporting.

• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records within the organization’s accounting systems.

• Assist in consolidated reporting for IEEFA's global entities.

• Report directly to the Finance Manager and collaborate closely with the CFO and Finance Team.

• Maintain and verify the accuracy of aging reports for accounts receivable and grants receivable.

• Analyze grant agreements to establish appropriate revenue recognition and accurately record and code revenue.

• Develop, maintain, and finalize grant and program codes within accounting, purchase card, and accounts payable systems.

• Manage accounts payable systems and resolve synchronization issues as they arise.

• Supervise and review the processing of bank feeds.

• Process incoming vendor invoices, ensuring proper coding, approvals, and verification of invoices.

• Maintain W-8/W-9 documentation and assist with year-end 1099 preparation, review, and submission.

• Disburse approved vendor payments through the accounts payable system, ACH, wire transfer, or foreign currency payment systems.

• Sustain positive pay and ACH control systems.

• Verify W-2s and W-3s, and enter payroll transactions and allocations accurately.

• Conduct quarterly 941 payroll reconciliations.

• Ensure accuracy in the general ledger and reclassify any incorrectly coded transactions.

• Review closed grants during the month-end closing process.

• Examine IEEFA Australia accounting records for accurate consolidation of revenues and expenses.

• Track net assets with and without donor restrictions.

• Generate monthly support schedules and reconcile asset and liability accounts.

• Maintain deferred revenue and conditional review schedules, recording revenue when necessary.

• Assess contract deliverables and lift restrictions once earned.

• Produce monthly and year-end financial reports, including consolidated year-end financial statements.

• Participate in financial performance and reporting discussions with the CFO and Finance Manager.

• Execute monthly bank and purchase card reconciliations and conclude fiscal periods.

• Manage the uploads of IEEFA Australian and Employer of Record transactions alongside monthly functional allocations.

• Address currency exchange and valuation challenges.

• Review Form 990 and state returns, filing specific state returns as needed.

• Enter annual operating, program, and IEEFA Australia budgets into the accounting system.

• Provide assistance during the annual audit process.

• Engage in departmental and administrative meetings.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 7 years of experience in nonprofit accounting or finance operations, including multi-currency accounting.

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business, or a comparable combination of education and experience.

• Proficient in QuickBooks Online or comparable accounting software.

• Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll operations.

• Knowledge of grant-funded organizations, grant accounting, and revenue recognition for both restricted and unrestricted funds.

• Familiarity with financial statement preparation and month-end/year-end closing processes.

• Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.

• Effective communicator capable of collaborating across teams, time zones, and cultures.

• Flexible and team-oriented, with a readiness to work within a diverse global workforce.

• Highly organized, capable of ensuring the accuracy of work products, prioritizing tasks, and meeting objectives and deadlines with little supervision while working remotely.

• Dedication to IEEFA's mission of promoting a diverse, sustainable, and profitable energy economy.

• Authorized to work in the United States.

• Ability to work for extended periods at a computer.

• Willingness to travel as required.

• Attendance at team retreats two to four times a year, including some domestic and international travel, is mandatory.
