Senior Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of key aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, which include journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, and corresponding schedules.

• Assist in managing sales tax and VAT compliance, encompassing Avalara setup and maintenance, balance sheet reconciliations, and multi-state return submissions.

• Collaborate with external advisors on tax registrations and filings.

• Facilitate revenue recognition and calculations of deferred revenue.

• Manage accrued expenses, prepaid accounts, and entries related to commissions, bonuses, and payroll.

• Keep records of fixed assets, depreciation schedules, and lease accounting.

• Aid in the annual asset verification and impairment assessments.

• Prepare journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations for Family Wall, a subsidiary based in France.

• Compile audit schedules and assist with annual financial statement audits, internal control documentation, and tax compliance.

• Support the preparation of monthly financial statements and management/board reporting packages.

• Analyze variances against budget and previous periods.

• Contribute to cash flow reporting and forecasting.

• Lead process enhancements utilizing AI tools such as Claude and ChatGPT.

• Provide assistance and backup for Accounts Payable, as well as review and approve expense reimbursements.

• Collaborate with FP&A, HR, Payroll, and Sales Operations teams.

• Generate monthly departmental reports for department leaders.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years in an accounting position, with practical experience in filing sales tax returns.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.

• CPA and/or a Master's degree in Accounting or Finance is advantageous.

• Strong familiarity with US GAAP is essential.

• Practical experience in preparing account reconciliations and journal entries.

• Proficient in using Oracle/NetSuite and Avalara.

• Advanced Excel capabilities, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP, and SUMIFS; knowledge of Power Query is a plus.

• Comfortable utilizing AI tools like Claude and ChatGPT to enhance accounting tasks.

• Strong skills in financial statement analysis.

• Experience in a SaaS company is considered a plus.

• Detail-oriented and exceptionally organized.

• Able to work independently while managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced setting.

• Possess clear and confident written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong analytical problem-solving abilities.
