This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Oversee and manage the monthly and year-end closing processes.
• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger and balance sheet accounts.
• Generate monthly financial statements along with supporting schedules.
• Analyze financial outcomes and investigate any unusual balances and variances.
• Assist in management reporting and financial analysis.
• Review accounts receivable, accounts payable, and other accounting balances.
• Prepare and uphold documentation that supports financial statement balances.
• Coordinate and assist with annual external review engagements.
• Prepare schedules and working papers as requested by external accountants.
• Address accounting questions related to review engagements and follow up on outstanding items.
• Assist with GST/HST, PST, and other tax filings.
• Support cash flow, working capital, and balance sheet reporting.
• Assist with accounting treatment and financial reporting in accordance with IFRS.
• Identify opportunities to enhance accounting processes, controls, and documentation.
• Review the work completed by junior accounting staff and provide guidance.
• Collaborate with management on budgeting, forecasting, and other finance projects.
• Assume increasing responsibility for the company’s accounting and financial reporting function.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Approximately 3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong full-cycle accounting experience.
• Experience in preparing financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Experience in participating in or leading an external review engagement.
• Strong knowledge of month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Experience with account reconciliations and general ledger accounting.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
• CPA designation is strongly preferred.
• Candidates who have completed the CFE or are actively pursuing their CPA designation may also be considered.
• Experience with IFRS is strongly preferred.
• Strong foundations in accounting and knowledge of financial statements.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to independently investigate and resolve accounting issues.
• Confidence in working directly with external accountants and management.
• Strong organizational and documentation skills.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities and adhere to reporting deadlines.
• Good professional judgment.
• Clear written and verbal communication abilities.
• Willingness to enhance existing accounting processes.
• Interest in developing leadership and management responsibilities.
• Advancement opportunity toward a Controller position within approximately 1–2 years, based on performance and capability.
