Secondary School Counselor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Provide virtual assistance to students and parents/learning coaches regarding academic, social/emotional support, and post-secondary planning.

• Counsel students and families on academic matters while staying informed about high school graduation criteria.

• Aid students and parents in selecting secondary courses.

• Analyze student transcripts and record credits to guarantee proper course placement.

• Acquire and relay student records in collaboration with administrative assistants and former schools.

• Execute programs aimed at addressing interpersonal adjustment challenges.

• Assist families in accessing educational and community resources.

• Engage in crisis prevention and management strategies.

• Ensure the accuracy and completeness of student records.

• Support families throughout the school withdrawal process and gather withdrawal statistics.

• Report and refer critical incidents impacting student welfare as mandated by law, regulations, or ethical standards.

• Stay updated on state incident-reporting and documentation requirements.

• Facilitate Advanced Placement, SAT/ACT prep, and college entrance preparation initiatives.

• Assist the principal in overseeing high school assessments, including exit exams, PSAT, SAT, ACT, and AP exams.

• Promote the implementation of the ASCA National Model framework and align counseling efforts with broader academic objectives.

• Monitor student outcomes and provide equitable support.

• Aid students in exploring post-secondary educational and career paths.

• Help students with their college and job applications.

• Educate students and parents about college admission criteria and financial aid options.

• Assist in coordinating high school graduation ceremonies.

• Facilitate professional development opportunities for teachers and school staff.

• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must currently hold or be immediately eligible for an Indiana School Services license.

• Master’s degree in School Counseling is required.

• Proficient in technology, particularly with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

• Exceptional oral and written communication abilities.

• Strong work ethic and capability to manage time effectively while working independently.
