SDET – Regression Automation Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil, +3 more countries.

📋 Description

• Participate in a large-scale modernization project aimed at converting a legacy platform into a contemporary cloud-native microservices architecture.

• Design, construct, maintain, and implement automated regression test suites.

• Create automated tests for log and metric ingestion pipelines.

• Assess search and query functionalities, ensuring accuracy and low latency.

• Test the precision of distributed tracing and end-to-end telemetry flows.

• Confirm alert delivery, firing conditions, and routing behaviors.

• Develop automated tests for audit trail queries, integrity checks, and anticipated system behaviors.

• Validate Infrastructure as Code deployments, ensuring clean-state deployments, reproducibility, and zero manual-step expectations.

• Carry out and assist in designing load and scalability testing to meet defined performance objectives.

• Execute failure-injection scenarios and verify expected platform behaviors.

• Conduct regression testing across various versions and environments simultaneously.

• Identify, document, triage, and monitor defects against established acceptance criteria.

• Verify fixes and perform the necessary regression testing prior to quality sign-off.

• Work in collaboration with the Test Architect and engineering teams to enhance regression coverage.

• Maintain clear and reproducible automation code along with testing documentation.

• Provide regression evidence during sprint reviews and contribute to quality status reporting.

• Operate within Agile sprint cycles adhering to formal acceptance criteria and the Definition of Done (DoD).

• Collaborate with multiple engineering squads on automated quality processes that support modern software delivery, cloud-native applications, AI-assisted development workflows, and continuous integration practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• 4+ years of professional experience as a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET), Test Automation Engineer, QA Automation Engineer, or a similar technical testing role.

• Strong hands-on experience in developing and maintaining automated test suites.

• Robust API testing and automation experience.

• Proficiency in scripting for technical validation and automation purposes.

• Experience with load and/or performance testing.

• Working knowledge of cloud-based environments.

• Familiarity with testing complex backend, infrastructure, data pipelines, or distributed systems.

• Experience collaborating with formal acceptance criteria and Agile development methodologies.

• Strong practical test automation skills.

• Experience in developing automated regression suites.

• Proficient scripting skills for automation, pipeline validation, or log/data validation.

• Familiarity with load and performance testing tools.

• Working knowledge of AWS environments.

• Understanding of Terraform-deployed environments and Infrastructure as Code principles.

• Familiarity with OpenTelemetry-based systems.

• Understanding of logs, metrics, telemetry, and distributed tracing concepts.

• Experience validating data or telemetry pipelines.

• Experience testing across various environments and/or product versions.

• Proficient in defect identification, triage, tracking, and fix verification.

• Familiarity with Jira or similar issue-tracking systems.

• Experience working with formal acceptance criteria and Definition of Done (DoD).
