This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +46 more states.
• Foster student achievement through a comprehensive counseling program.
• Assist students in achieving academic success, social and emotional growth, and planning for their careers and college.
• Aid students in exploring postsecondary options and applying strategies for academic achievement.
• Conduct quarterly meetings with students on your caseload to discuss graduation plans and postsecondary opportunities.
• Provide classroom instruction aligned with student success standards.
• Evaluate transcripts and academic records.
• Collaborate with educators to formulate four-year graduation plans and audit student schedules.
• Support course placement, including recommendations for Advanced Placement and enrichment pathways.
• Analyze student data and create action plans based on data-driven interventions.
• Offer short-term counseling and provide referrals for long-term support.
• Assist teachers, staff, and parents.
• Facilitate standardized testing, parent education, and staff development initiatives.
• Advocate for students during individualized education plan and other student-focused meetings.
• Guide students and families in setting goals and planning for college and career readiness.
• Travel up to 20% for in-person professional development, student testing, and/or as required by the school.
• Valid state Department of Education School Counselor Certification is mandatory.
• This position is remote and available to residents of all 50 states and Washington, D.C.
• Must be available full-time, generally 40+ hours each week.
• Capability to maintain a professional home office free from distractions during working hours.
• A Bachelor's degree is required.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in counseling and/or advisement.
• School Counselor License is essential.
• Must pass the required background check.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, web-based search engines, and database management systems.
• A flexible schedule is necessary.
• Willingness to travel as required.
• Experience with distance learning methodologies.
• Advanced studies in counseling and administration are preferred.
• Teaching experience is a plus.
• Experience in a customer service environment is advantageous.
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and mandated reporting is essential.
• Experience within a charter school setting is preferred.
• Familiarity with state career planning systems, Pathfinder, or other career planning tools/platforms is a plus.
