SCADA Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.

📋 Description

• Report directly to the SCADA Manager.

• Ensure the reliability, configuration, and maintenance of SCADA systems along with associated hardware and applications.

• Assist field personnel utilizing SCADA in power plants within the PJM/ROC region of U.S. Hydro Operations.

• Oversee upgrade projects and create or modify programming changes for Industrial Control Systems.

• Implement patches and configure as well as manage related servers and equipment to comply with NERC/FERC standards.

• Develop and support SCADA software applications, which include graphical screens, historical trends, alarm management, set point interfaces, and manual remote control functionalities.

• Conduct system and database backups.

• Offer user support for data retrieval and report generation.

• Develop, maintain, and validate data.

• Test and commission SCADA data points in collaboration with NSCC personnel.

• Coordinate with remote assets, NSCC, and regional Project Managers on significant SCADA projects.

• Create or update points lists in the PI database.

• Integrate new assets and field devices into existing systems.

• Incorporate new acquisitions into the control center with networking, systems, and operations teams.

• Manage security devices, including cameras, key cards, motion sensors, and their associated servers.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience is required.

• Must reside within a reasonable travel distance from one regional asset.

• Travel is required based on business needs.

• Strong time management skills with the capacity to organize, plan, prioritize, and oversee multiple tasks and projects.

• Proficient oral and written communication skills in English.

• Ability to logically analyze tasks, break them down into essential components, and devise solutions to achieve objectives.

• Familiarity with the MS Office Suite, including MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook.

• Experience in managing and programming industrial control systems such as Allen Bradley, ABB, and Siemens.

• Background in Industrial Control Systems is necessary.

• An Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Computer Science, or a related field is required.

• Equivalent experience or training will be taken into consideration.

• Experience in Industrial Networking is preferred.

• Prior experience in the power industry is preferred.

• Technical understanding of SCADA system operations and related subsystems, networks, protocols, and regulations is essential.

• Experience with databases is required.

• Familiarity with an Allen Bradley environment is preferred.
