SAP Yard Logistics, Warehouse Management (EWM) Functional SME

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Act as the functional expert for SAP Yard Logistics and Extended Warehouse Management within S/4HANA environments

• Design and implement solutions for yard layout, checkpoints, gate processing, vehicle check-in/check-out, dock door assignments, yard task management, and warehouse execution

• Assist with warehouse inbound, outbound, internal movements, inventory management, staging, picking, packing, and shipping operations

• Lead integration initiatives between EWM, Yard Logistics, and Transportation Management modules

• Facilitate visibility of shipments, assets, and inventory throughout the supply chain

• Collaborate with functional teams from SD, MM, TM, FI/CO/FM, and Asset/EAM

• Engage in sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives

• Convert operational requirements into user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional designs

• Work with Product Owners to prioritize logistics and warehouse functionalities

• Conduct fit-gap analysis comparing current operations with SAP S/4HANA EWM/YL capabilities

• Create functional specifications and configuration designs

• Lead and assist SIT/UAT while validating end-to-end logistics scenarios

• Support cutover planning, deployment, post-go-live stabilization, and operational readiness

• Analyze operations to uncover efficiency improvements, bottlenecks, and automation possibilities

• Promote continuous improvement based on user feedback, operational metrics, and industry best practices

• Ensure the precision of inventory data, yard status, and logistics transactions

• Assist with operational reporting and executive dashboards

• Resolve complex integration and process challenges and perform root cause analysis

⛳️ Requirements

• A valid DoD Secret clearance

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field

• 7–10+ years of SAP functional experience with extensive knowledge in EWM and Yard Logistics, or a comparable combination of education and experience

• In-depth, hands-on experience with SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) in S/4HANA environments

• Expert-level understanding of SAP Yard Logistics (YL) functionality and configuration

• Strong comprehension of SAP Transportation Management (TM) integration points

• Solid knowledge of SD and MM modules

• Familiarity with warehouse processes including inbound/outbound operations, inventory management, staging, picking, packing, and shipping

• Knowledge of yard operations such as gate processing, vehicle management, dock door assignments, and yard tasks

• Proven experience in designing and optimizing end-to-end logistics execution

• Thorough understanding of physical logistics operations and their alignment with SAP processes

• Experience managing complex, multi-site warehouse and yard operations

• Knowledge of inventory valuation, asset management, and financial integration points

• Demonstrated experience collaborating within Agile development teams

• Ability to effectively participate in sprint and Agile ceremonies

• Experience in translating business requirements into user stories and acceptance criteria

• Proven record of delivering iterative enhancements in dynamic environments

• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills

• Strong capability in requirements gathering and fit-gap analysis

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at various levels

• Experience leading testing activities (SIT, UAT) and supporting deployment efforts

• Ability to troubleshoot complex issues and conduct root cause analysis

• Proven capability to manage multiple priorities and competing demands

• SAP certification in EWM, Yard Logistics, or Transportation Management (preferred)

• Experience with SAP S/4HANA implementations or upgrades (preferred)

• Familiarity with DoD or government logistics operations and requirements (preferred)

• Experience in data migration and master data management (preferred)

• Understanding of warehouse automation technologies such as RFID and barcode scanning (preferred)

• Familiarity with SAP Fiori apps for logistics execution (preferred)

• Knowledge of integration technologies including APIs, IDocs, and middleware (preferred)

• Experience with reporting tools such as SAP Analytics Cloud and Business Warehouse (preferred)

• Background in Lean or Six Sigma process improvement methodologies (preferred)
