Same Day Surgery Coder

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Perform coding for ambulatory surgery, observation, and ancillary encounters.

• Analyze operative reports and clinical documentation to assign precise ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes.

• Extract clinical and demographic data into hospital information systems.

• Ensure coding accuracy and adhere to CMS, Medicare, Medicaid, AHIMA, and AAPC guidelines.

• Assign and validate APCs while supporting claim readiness.

• Work in collaboration with physicians and clinical staff to clarify documentation when necessary.

• Provide assistance with emergency department and outpatient diagnostic coding based on departmental volume.

• Achieve established productivity, quality, and accuracy benchmarks.

• Navigate assigned encounters through Epic work queues utilizing service-date-based workflow management.

⛳️ Requirements

• Candidates must reside in Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, or Texas.

• Completion of a coding program accredited by AHIMA or AAPC is required.

• Must hold an active coding certification (e.g., CPC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIT, RHIA, or equivalent).

• 4-5 years of recent experience in hospital-based outpatient coding is necessary.

• Experience with Epic is preferred.

• Strong background in facility coding is essential.

• Experience in an acute care hospital setting is required.

• In-depth knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and outpatient reimbursement methodologies is crucial.

• Must be able to meet established productivity, quality, and accuracy standards.
