This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado, +11 more states.
• Conduct investigations and manage claims that are of low complexity.
• Recognize opportunities for recovery and ensure claims are resolved accurately.
• Review claims assigned to you and communicate with insured individuals and involved parties.
• Establish expectations and initiate documentation within the claims handling system.
• Analyze policy coverage, provisions, benefits, exclusions, and their relevance to reported losses.
• Create sub-claims or escalate complex claims to management or the appropriate claim handlers.
• Investigate the facts of claims and determine payment limits, exclusions, and potential for recovery.
• Assess damages while considering state laws and other factors related to the claims.
• Evaluate loss values and authorize payments to the appropriate parties.
• Refer cases to Underwriting, Recovery Units, or the Claims Special Investigation Unit when necessary.
• Document and code claims files and complete activities related to claim closure.
• Identify liable parties and ascertain their insurance status.
• Send files to collection agencies and prepare necessary proofs.
• Handle inquiry calls, collect additional proofs, and finalize investigations.
• Gather information from systems related to claims.
• Collaborate with collection vendors to authorize requests for filing lawsuits.
• Complete processes for receipt and file closure, ensuring proper accounting for returned funds.
• Reimburse deductibles and prepare mini tort proofs when applicable.
• Carry out straightforward recovery tasks involving auto collision, home, or PIP/medical-pay assignments.
• Operate remotely from a home office for daily tasks, with occasional travel for meetings, collaboration, or team-building activities.
• Complete the ACG Claim Representative Training Program or demonstrate equivalent knowledge or experience.
• Must obtain all required State Adjuster licenses for applicable states within 60 days of finishing licensing coursework.
• A valid driver's license is necessary if primary responsibilities require in-person inspections or frequent meetings.
• Experience in negotiating claim settlements.
• Proven ability in securing and evaluating evidence.
• Experience in preparing both manual and electronic estimates.
• Familiarity with subrogation claims.
• Basic understanding of the Essential Insurance Act (Michigan).
• Basic knowledge of the Fair Trade Practices Act as it pertains to claims.
• Understanding of subrogation procedures and processes.
• Knowledge of intercompany arbitration.
• Ability to adhere to and apply ACG Claim policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Capability to work within designated ACG Claim systems and basic PC software.
• Ability to conduct basic reviews and investigations of claim files.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Customer service skills with the ability to maintain relationships with insured individuals/claimants.
• Problem-solving abilities and sound decision-making skills.
• Aptitude for prioritizing claim-related tasks.
• Competence in processing time-sensitive data from various sources.
• Ability to manage time effectively, organize, and plan workload.
• Capability to research, analyze, and interpret subrogation laws across different states.
• Willingness to travel outside assigned territory, potentially overnight.
• Flexibility to relocate and work evenings or weekends as required.
• Preferred: associate degree in Business Administration, Insurance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant work experience.
• Preferred: completion of the Insurance Institute of America's General Insurance Program, Associate in Claims, Associate in Management, or equivalent.
• Preferred: CPCU coursework or designation.
• Preferred: CCC training.
• Preferred: six months of experience in claim settlements, evidence evaluation, estimates, communication, or call center/queue calling.
