This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Undergo a comprehensive twelve-month program focusing on institutional sales and relationship management.
• Gain a thorough understanding of financial products and learn to articulate their benefits to institutional clients.
• Create and present engaging client presentations and pitches.
• Participate in constructive critiques from peers and industry experts to enhance skills.
• Engage in relationship-management simulations that include challenging scenarios with dissatisfied, evasive, or highly knowledgeable clients.
• Receive training on capital markets products, such as stocks, bonds, and various financial instruments.
• Develop skills in active listening, assessing client needs, and building strong relationships.
• Collaborate with an industry mentor for guidance and insight.
• Network with professionals from partner firms.
• Cultivate resilience and learn to handle rejection effectively.
• Utilize CRM and AI tools for client research, pitch development, drafting, and follow-up communications.
• Prepare for recruiting and interviews for junior-year internships.
• Greenwood provides training for scholars, advocates for their professional growth, and connects them with partner firms, which make the final hiring decisions.
• Must be currently enrolled as a freshman (Class of 2030) at an accredited four-year institution.
• A minimum GPA of 3.2 is required for standard consideration.
• Students with a GPA between 3.0 and 3.19 may apply but must include a personal essay.
• Students with a GPA below 3.0 are not eligible for this application cycle.
• High school transcript must be submitted with the application.
• First semester or first quarter college transcript to be submitted either with the application or upon posting of grades.
• Undeclared students are welcome to apply.
• A twelve-month commitment is required from the summer following the freshman year through the sophomore year.
• Expect to dedicate approximately 6 to 8 hours per week, with increased hours during pitch deadlines.
• Must be able to balance a full course load with program commitments.
• A keen interest in client-facing roles within the financial services sector is essential.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Ability to build relationships and feel comfortable engaging with unfamiliar individuals is important.
• Confidence during client interactions and when presenting to groups is necessary.
• Demonstrated active listening skills.
• Persuasive communication skills and the ability to negotiate early in the process.
• Attributes such as resilience, adaptability, quick thinking, grit, resourcefulness, intellectual curiosity, integrity, character, and a collaborative spirit are essential.
• Willingness to learn about markets, financial products, presentation development, CRM systems, financial analysis, client and market research, and AI tools is expected.
• Must be able to meet application deadlines, including the submission of transcripts, forms, and potential interview scheduling.
• Develop transferable communication skills relevant to pitching, presenting, and leading discussions.
• Gain in-depth knowledge of financial services products.
• Acquire AI skills through tools for client research, outreach, and follow-up communications.
