ROS Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Assist in the transition from ROS 1 to ROS 2 for autonomous vehicle software.

• Evaluate, refactor, and transfer existing components based on ROS, utilizing C++ and Python.

• Transition navigation, localization, autonomy, and vehicle control features to ROS 2.

• Integrate and validate vehicle sensors, hardware interfaces, and control systems.

• Configure DDS/QoS communication while addressing performance, synchronization, and reliability challenges.

• Conduct integration, regression, simulation, and vehicle-level testing.

• Collaborate with customer engineering teams effectively.

• Examine the architecture of ROS 1, identify migration hurdles and dependencies, and assist in developing a maintainable, production-ready ROS 2 solution.

• Influence engineering decisions and support the delivery team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven commercial experience with both ROS 1 and ROS 2.

• Strong C++ development capabilities.

• Proficient in Python programming.

• Experience in Linux development.

• Background in autonomous vehicles, robotics platforms, or UGV systems.

• Knowledge of navigation, localization, vehicle control, and system integration.

• Familiarity with DDS/QoS configuration and optimization.

• Experience with AI tools in everyday workflows (preferred).

• Experience with ros_control / ros2_control, robot_localization, Nav2, and BehaviorTree.CPP (preferred).

• Experience in GNSS-based localization and sensor fusion (preferred).

• Experience integrating CAN-based vehicle interfaces (preferred).

• Understanding of steering and braking systems (preferred).

• Familiarity with Fields2Cover (preferred).

• Experience with Foxglove or similar robotics debugging and visualization tools (preferred).
