Revenue Recognition Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assist in the monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes.

• Support revenue recognition activities in compliance with ASC 606 and U.S. GAAP.

• Review customer contracts and associated documentation to ascertain the appropriate treatment for revenue recognition.

• Prepare and maintain revenue schedules and reconciliations, encompassing deferred and recognized revenue.

• Develop documentation that substantiates revenue recognition conclusions and journal entries.

• Investigate and resolve discrepancies among contracts, billing information, and related accounting records.

• Aid in contract modifications and alterations that affect revenue recognition.

• Assist with internal and external audit requests by preparing necessary schedules and documentation.

• Collaborate with Finance, Billing, Sales, Operations, and other cross-functional teams to address revenue and billing inquiries.

• Support enhancements in revenue accounting processes, controls, reporting, and documentation.

• Perform additional accounting and financial analysis or ad-hoc projects as required.

• Assist with the implementation of ERP systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

• CPA eligibility.

• 1–3 years of professional accounting experience.

• Practical knowledge and experience with ASC 606 revenue recognition.

• Experience dealing with non-standard, complex contracts.

• Understanding of U.S. GAAP and fundamental accounting principles.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including lookups and pivot tables.

• Strong analytical skills, with a focus on data reconciliation and problem-solving.

• Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and prioritize tasks in a remote work setting.

• Exceptional attention to detail and precision.

• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

• A mindset geared towards continuous improvement and learning.

• Willingness to work in the Eastern Standard Time zone in the USA.

• Public accounting experience is preferred.

• Experience in the technology, SaaS, software, cloud, or subscription-based industries is preferred.

• Familiarity with deferred revenue, contract assets, unbilled revenue, or recurring revenue models is preferred.

• Experience in reviewing customer contracts for accounting implications is preferred.

• Experience with Oracle Fusion, SAP, or another major ERP system is preferred.

• Salesforce or other CRM experience is preferred.

• Experience supporting financial statement audits is preferred.
