This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take responsibility for the monthly revenue close related to enterprise committed usage, self-serve consumption, and direct entries.
• Reconcile the activity within the self-serve payments stack and summarize the results on a monthly basis.
• Manage contract liabilities and deferred revenue for each customer and contract, ensuring alignment with the general ledger and maintainable from the source.
• Implement ASC 606 policies that pertain to material rights, breakage, standalone selling prices and allocations, variable considerations, and contract modifications.
• Provide explanations of monthly and quarterly revenue changes, deferred revenue movements, metrics, and analyses to executives, the board, Deal Desk, and Customer Success teams.
• Oversee the development of the revenue accountant, including providing reviews, feedback, segregation of duties, and management review controls.
• Be accountable for the reconciliation of usage to billing to the general ledger, defining accounting specifications, tolerances, and handling exceptions.
• Act as the primary contact for revenue-related audits, preparing PBC packages and conducting walkthroughs.
• Collaborate with the Directors to establish revenue controls, including assertions, ownership, frequency, and documentation for future SOX compliance.
• Provide guidance to Deal Desk, Sales, Customer Success, and Legal regarding order-form terms, credits, and overage mechanics.
• Lead the revenue workstream during the migration to a billing and revenue platform, which includes gathering requirements, designing close processes, migrating data, performing cutover reconciliations, and validating parallel runs.
• Redesign the closing process utilizing AI, covering term extraction, reconciliation matching, anomaly detection, schedule generation, variance narratives, and PBC assembly.
• A minimum of seven years of experience in accounting, predominantly within revenue.
• Proven experience managing a monthly or quarterly close process from start to finish.
• Experience in reviewing the work of other accountants.
• Practical hands-on experience with ASC 606 in a consumption or drawdown model.
• Strong understanding of material rights, breakage and forfeiture estimation, standalone selling price and allocation, variable consideration, contract modifications, contract liabilities, and the distinction between gross and net.
• Capability to perform data-related tasks using SQL, Python, or spreadsheet methodologies from start to finish.
• Familiarity with using large language models (LLMs) in revenue-related work.
• Proficiency with billing and revenue platforms such as Ordway, Zuora, Maxio, RevPro, NetSuite ARM, or Rillet, along with a payments stack, CRM, and general ledger systems.
• Excellent written communication skills suitable for non-accounting audiences and auditors.
• Active CPA designation is preferred.
• Experience with a Big 4 or national firm is advantageous.
