Retirement Plan Operations Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +13 more states.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with clients to gather essential information for annual reporting.

• Assess documents submitted by clients for completeness and accuracy.

• Reconcile plans that involve only rollovers and plan stock utilizing Excel and administrative software.

• Utilize administration software to conduct 401(k) testing and reporting.

• Make outgoing reminder calls and send emails to clients throughout the plan-year reporting process.

• Prepare mandated 401(k) government filings, including IRS Form 5500, using filing software.

• Inform clients about 401(k) plan administration and relevant plan documents.

• Convey knowledge and demystify complex topics effectively.

• Provide training on concepts for a Retirement Plan Administrator I.

• Execute additional duties as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience with document review and transaction processing as part of daily job functions.

• 1 to 5 years of relevant back-office financial operations experience in areas such as benefits administration, money movement and wires, insurance claims processing, tax prep processing, loan or mortgage document processing, or compliance and quality-control support.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

• Preferred direct experience in retirement-plan operations, including 401(k) or IRA administration, recordkeeping, distributions and rollovers, compliance testing, or 5500 and year-end reporting.

• Experience with reconciliation as a daily responsibility is preferred.

• An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as business or finance, or equivalent work experience, is preferred.

• Basic understanding of 401(k) plan structure, ROBS, and IRS/DOL regulations is preferred.

• A designated workspace conducive to concentration and productivity is preferred.

• Reliable high-speed internet connectivity is preferred.
