Retirement Plan Operations Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +13 more states.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with clients to gather essential information for annual reporting.

• Assess client-submitted documents for accuracy and completeness.

• Reconcile plans involving only rollovers and plan stocks utilizing Excel and administration software.

• Utilize administration software to execute 401(k) testing and reporting.

• Conduct outgoing reminder calls and send emails to clients throughout the plan-year reporting process.

• Prepare mandatory 401(k) government filings, including IRS Form 5500, using filing software.

• Inform clients about the management of their 401(k) plans and associated documents.

• Convey information clearly and simplify complex topics.

• Provide training on concepts for a Retirement Plan Administrator I.

• Carry out additional tasks as necessary.


⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in document review and transaction processing as part of daily responsibilities.

• 1 to 5 years of relevant back-office financial operations experience, including benefits administration, money movement and wires, insurance claims processing, tax preparation, loan or mortgage document processing, or compliance and quality-control support.

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

• Preferred direct experience in retirement-plan operations, encompassing 401(k) or IRA administration, recordkeeping, distributions and rollovers, compliance testing, or 5500 and year-end reporting.

• Experience with reconciliation as a daily job function is preferred.

• An Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as business or finance, or equivalent work experience, is preferred.

• Basic understanding of 401(k) plan structure, ROBS, as well as IRS/DOL regulations is preferred.

• A designated workspace is preferred.

• Reliable high-speed internet connection is preferred.
