This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in China.
• Participate in cutting-edge AI research focused on developing an AI Coaching Tool for Complex AI-Supported Policymaking.
• Assist in the technical advancement of a UN-adapted AI Coach tailored for Large Language Model applications.
• Aid in enhancing request formulation, conduct critical evaluations of AI outputs, and pinpoint unsupported assumptions or biases.
• Evaluate the prototype in collaboration with domain experts and UNU stakeholders.
• Execute essential technical modifications through an iterative development process.
• Contribute to the authorship of at least one publication and/or technical demonstration.
• Submit the publication and/or technical demonstration to a prestigious conference or journal.
• Spearhead the development of a technical demonstration for a leading conference or journal.
• Operate under the close supervision and mentorship of the Senior Researcher/Acting Head of Research.
• A completed master’s degree in AI, informatics, computer science, data science, engineering, applied mathematics, or physics.
• Exceptional consideration for candidates holding a bachelor’s degree and currently pursuing a master’s degree, with a demonstrated history of pedagogically informed prompt engineering or LLM evaluation methodologies for tutoring.
• Proven track record of technical contributions in human-AI interaction projects, LLM tools for tutoring, pedagogically informed prompt engineering, effective utilization of LLMs in complex environments, or educational strategies for the responsible use of LLMs.
• Strong proficiency in English communication.
• Proficiency in another UN official language is a plus.
• Consultants must fulfill medical clearance and security clearance requirements for mission travel, complete the BSAFE online course, secure a travel visa, and sign a liability waiver when necessary.
• UNU does not provide sponsorship for a working visa for this role.
• Mission travel expenses covered by UNU when applicable, subject to prerequisites.
• Economy-class travel expenses reimbursed for mission travel.
• Accommodation, meals, and incidentals reimbursed in accordance with applicable ICSC daily subsistence allowance rates.
