Research and Development Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop, test, and enhance prototypes and features by utilizing AI and machine learning models, including large language models, for Vector’s SaaS offerings.

• Write, debug, and maintain application code that integrates AI/ML APIs and services into current product workflows.

• Assist with data preparation, labeling, and pipeline tasks essential for training, fine-tuning, or assessing AI models.

• Carry out experiments designed by senior engineers, document outcomes, and summarize findings for team evaluation.

• Work with QA to validate AI-driven features for accuracy, reliability, and performance prior to deployment.

• Help monitor deployed AI features for performance challenges and escalate issues to senior engineers.

• Contribute to internal documentation regarding AI workflows, model usage guidelines, and known limitations.

• Engage in code reviews and integrate feedback from senior engineers and technical leads.

• Keep updated on emerging AI tools and techniques pertinent to assigned project tasks.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Over 5 years of professional software development experience.

• Hands-on experience with AI/ML-related projects.

• Strong proficiency in at least one modern programming language commonly utilized in AI/ML development, such as Python or JavaScript.

• Solid grasp of machine learning concepts and practical experience with popular AI/ML frameworks or APIs, such as OpenAI, Hugging Face, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.

• Capability to take direction and requirements from senior engineers and R&D leadership and independently convert them into functional, well-tested code.

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to test and validate technical work prior to hand-off.

• Effective written and verbal communication skills for documenting work and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

• Skill in managing time and prioritizing tasks within a clearly defined project scope.

• Familiarity with version control systems, such as Git.

• Willingness to learn and adapt to new tools, frameworks, and AI techniques.

• Preferred: Experience working with LLM APIs, such as OpenAI or Anthropic, or open-source ML frameworks.

• Preferred: Experience in a SaaS product development setting.

• Preferred: Previous experience integrating AI/ML capabilities into production applications.
