This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nevada.
• Support faculty members, principal investigators, and departmental grant administrators in the development, preparation, and submission of sponsored proposals.
• Prepare, review, and submit thorough and compliant proposals.
• Analyze funding opportunity announcements and offer guidance on applicable rules, regulations, and procedures.
• Create and assess detailed proposal budgets and their components.
• Submit applications via federal and non-federal online platforms to agencies such as NASA, NIH, NSF, and DOE.
• Oversee highly complex proposals that involve multiple departments, institutions, subawards, cost-sharing, institutional commitments, and training grants.
• Provide education and training to faculty, departmental administrators, and staff regarding proposal development, submission, budgets, sponsor requirements, and the Cayuse system.
• Collaborate or work independently on surveys, policy and procedure development, forms, special reports, and process enhancements.
• Stay informed on federal, state, university, and sponsor regulations through policy reviews, webinars, training sessions, and conferences.
• A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or CHEA.
• Relevant professional experience in research administration within non-profit organizations, higher education, hospitals, etc.
• 2–4 years of experience in the relevant job area.
• Familiarity with proposal submission processes and the review and interpretation of funding agencies/sponsors.
• Knowledge of sponsored program administration from pre-award to post-award stages.
• Understanding of sponsored project contracts, grants, cooperative agreements, and requests for proposals or quotes.
• Awareness of federal and non-federal sponsor research administration guidelines.
• Knowledge of CFR, FAR, Uniform Guidance 2 CFR 200, and Single Audit regulations.
• Understanding of sponsor-specific policies, intellectual property rights, conflict of interest, publication rights, and indirect cost rates.
• Experience with grant submission platforms such as ASSIST, Research.gov, Grants.gov, and NSPIRES.
• Proficiency in Excel and budget development.
• Strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
• Capability to interpret policies and operate independently in a complex regulatory/legal environment.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal background check and/or credit check.
• Certified Research Administrator (CRA) designation and prior experience with Cayuse are preferred.
