This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Accountable for efficiently processing assigned medical records requests in a timely manner, ensuring accuracy and delivering the highest quality service to healthcare clients.
• Protect and uphold the patient's right to privacy by guaranteeing that only authorized personnel can access the patient's medical information.
• Primarily handle Continuing Care and Disability Determination Services requests, with the opportunity for cross-training on additional request types as deemed appropriate by the supervisor.
• Daily completion of Release of Information requests, prioritizing them based on turnaround time requirements.
• Validate requests and signed patient authorizations to ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and established procedures.
• Conduct Quality Control checks to verify the accuracy of the released information.
• Record all exceptions, communications, and pertinent details related to a request in the ROI software.
• Notify supervisors regarding any issues that could impede the timely release of records.
• Execute responsibilities in accordance with VRC and healthcare facility policies.
• High School Diploma (GED) is mandatory; a degree is preferred.
• Previous experience in ROI fulfillment is advantageous.
• Proven attention to detail is essential.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, stay organized, and meet deadlines is required.
• Strong documentation and communication skills are necessary.
• Capability to maintain productivity while ensuring quality performance is expected.
• Basic understanding of medical records and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) is preferred.
• Prior experience with EHR/EMR systems is preferred.
• Familiarity with the Windows environment and Microsoft Office products is required.
• Strong interpersonal skills when interacting with team members, clients, and requestors are essential.
• Proficiency in computer skills and Microsoft Office applications is a must.
• Previous experience operating equipment such as printers, computers, fax machines, scanners, and microfilm reader/printers is preferred.
• Must be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of focusing on tasks for extended periods.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and comprehending English is required.
