Registered Nurse – Hemodialysis

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered nursing care to individuals in the hemodialysis unit.

• Conduct assessments, develop plans, implement care, and evaluate outcomes as part of the nursing process.

• Maintain safe nursing practices and adhere to established policies and procedures.

• Provide professional, patient-focused care that enhances patient safety and promotes both physical and psychological well-being.

• Foster therapeutic relationships and environments within a culturally diverse setting.

• Adhere to infection prevention and control protocols.

• Identify shifts in patient health status and respond effectively to emergency situations.

• Consult as necessary and apply principles of transfer-of-accountability.

• Educate patients and their families, including providing discharge instructions.

• Collaborate as an integral member of an inter-professional health care team.

• Practice in accordance with Osler standards, regulatory standards from the College of Nurses, and relevant legislation.

• May require travel and work across all Osler locations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Clinical experience within the last five years, with at least two years in an acute care environment.

• At least one year of recent experience in hemodialysis.

• Nephrology certification or proof of enrollment, with completion expected within 18 months of hiring.

• Completion and application of vascular access modules from the Ontario Renal Network.

• Familiarity with Nephrology Nursing Standards and Practice Recommendations, as well as hemodialysis procedures from the Canadian Association of Nephrology Nurses and Technologists.

• Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.

• BCLS certification is required.

• Strong understanding of the nursing process, theory, and professional responsibilities.

• Exceptional interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, conflict-resolution, decision-making, organizational, critical-thinking, and customer service skills.

• Ability to work effectively within an inter-professional team.

• Experience in patient and family health education.

• Demonstrated leadership and facilitation abilities.

• Capacity to function in high-stress and fast-paced environments.

• Skill in prioritizing patient care and making independent decisions.

• Excellent physical assessment abilities.

• Knowledge of patient and family-centered care, infection control, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and relevant information systems and technologies.

• Commitment to ongoing learning and professional growth.

• Willingness to travel and work across all Osler sites as needed.

• Outstanding attendance, punctuality, and work history.

• Membership in the Canadian Association of Nephrology Nurses and Technicians is preferred.

• CNeph designation is preferred.

• A minimum score of 80% on a nephrology quiz is required prior to the interview.
